    (Faculty of Philosophy, Skopje, 2021)
    Aneta Jovkovska

The Contribution of Multi-Cultural and Interreligious Education in Spiritual, Moral and Cultural Development of Students (Придонес на мултикултурното и меѓурелигиското образование во духовниот, моралниот и културниот развој кај учениците)
(Univerzitet „Sv. Kiril i Metodij“, Filozofski fakultet, Institut za Pedagogija, Skopje, 2016-11)
    Aneta Jovkovska
Cultural globalization and socio-cultural changes taking place in modern society, as well as the integration and differentiation of national cultures, have a significant influence on the actualization of the problem of multicultural education of younger generations. On the other hand, one of the key educational goals in primary, secondary and higher education is the development of the students’ personality, their spiritual and moral culture, which is primarily expressed in the system of moral, spiritual, and civic values, and the ability to lead their lives in a fertile interaction with representatives of other cultures in addition to the necessity of maintaining, enhancing and extending cultural values of their own nation and simultaneously adhering to the values of other nations. Hence, inter-ethnic and inter-religious tolerance among students is an active moral position of the person, which can be expressed in readiness to recognize, accept, understand, and respect the ethnic and religious diversity and originality in the process of interaction of subjects and in conditions of a multi-ethnic society. Investigation of the problem of establishing inter-ethnic and inter-religious tolerance among students in the educational system stems from both the socio-cultural situation in Macedonia and the wider global community. This paper relayed the views of leading world scientists who study this phenomenon. Furthermore, it also explored and presented the differences between primary school students from Macedonian and Albanian ethnicity in terms of their expressed respect for different cultures and religions and their developed skills of tolerance, dialogue, respect, and cooperation with students from other ethnic and religious affiliation.

Analyses of pedagogical and psychological literature show that education and upbringing are oriented to nursing moral values. In pedagogy’s historical context, the most important goals are education, development, and selfdevelopment of life experience and student’s perception of efforts to build values in their own life. In different historical periods, different moral values appear in the society. They are united by being directed towards humanism and on the basis of personal experience they represent completeness of general principles and norms of student’s behavior towards other people, nature, society and towards student’s themselves in the name of the common good. The already formed moral values have regulatory function in student’s life. The research problem is connected with humanization of the educational process.

The Republic of North Macedonia is a secular country with a separation of church and state. The churches and religious communities in North Macedonia have the right to found religious educational institutions on all levels of education, except for the elementary level, for the education of clergy and other personnel. Hence, the two most common religions in North Macedonia: Orthodox Christianity and Islam have their own educational institutions in middle and higher education with old traditions and many years of experience. In public education, religious education is found only in elementary education, where the subject Ethics in religions is learned as an optional subject in sixth grade. According to the curriculum this subject has the purpose of developing a sense of responsibility, the capacity to tell good from evil, prudence, to understand the significance of spiritual and material, respect toward religious wealth, religious traditions and religious differences in the world, as well as of increasing the children’s personal integrity and dignity.

Education, Spirituality and Value Orientations of Adolescents
    (LAP Lambert Academic Publishing, 2015-12)
    Aneta Jovkovska
The study of values and value orientations is important in the adolescent age. Values are particularly affecting the orientation of the person and their active social position. On the other hand, scientific researches pay scarce attention to the development of spirituality and religiousness among the adolescents. By being expelled from educational discourse and practice of science and secularism, spirituality has remained insufficiently studied as a feature that develops the educational process. There is also a lack of theoretical approach to the study of the nature and structure of the spiritual and moral qualities among students in adolescence based on whether religious education and ethics are included in their educational process or these subjects are not involved in the type of their education. Hence, this paper deals with the study of spirituality, religiosity and value orientations of adolescents. The obtained research findings and the presented theoretical findings suggest that the type of education makes a difference in the extent of religious expression and spiritual development, as well as the type of values that will be perceived as significant by adolescents.

Is There Discrimination Against Women by the Orthodox Church in the Republic of North Macedonia?
    (George Fox University, 2021)
    Aneta Jovkovska
The growing interest in the issue of gender equality in the past few decades ranks this topic among the main themes of various research and reflection. There does not seem to be much agreement between the numerous studies, which in itself makes it difficult to understand them and again raises questions about the interpretation of fundamental Christian doctrines. In light of the existing and offered considerations, we believe that biblical texts, such as Galatians 3:28 (“There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus”), have encouraged women to stand up for their equality in the Church and society. However, because action requires understanding of the biblical texts, in this paper we have tried to “demythologize” this topic.
