The paper focuses on reviewing, exploring, answering and presenting the Christian norms and positions in relation to war and warfare from Orthodox ethical and canonical perspective. The Orthodox understanding of warfare and the use of force differs from the Western and secular ‘just war theory’, which means the way of the Orthodox attitude towards the problem of justifaing warfare is not present, because war is always seen as unconditional ‘evil’. The reason why the Church hasn’t developed a socalled ‘just war theory’ is because of the fact that The Church of Christ is always leaned towards peace. Thus said, warfare is actually understood as an unconditional evil, caused by pride, hatred and human abuse of the God given freedom. In no case could war, or an intiation of a military conflict be justified, for the reason that the Orthodox Church does not justify or favor the manifestation of evil in any of its forms, especially when it comes to a form of evil that is directly aimed at endangering someone’s well-being and life.

The purpose of the paper is to reflect the historical development of the educational theological process on the East, and to underline the differences with the West after the great Schism in the 11th century. The methodology of the theological development of the East is defined as mosaic, rooted in the Reveletion of God through the incarnation of the Logos. Thus, the orthodox theology is constantly developing, bearing with dignity the mark given by her two ‘parents’ – The Holy Scripture and the Holy Tradition, the two pilasters of her profound and sacred role in the world to be a constant remembrance of Christ’s saving work by whose life experience and existence is being built. In addition, the Orthodox Church throughout her educational centers is playing a major role in offering the theological knowledge to the future students that are preparing to dive in the Wisdom that is God Himself. For that matter, the paper is trying to offer a clear image of the key things that happened troughout the historical maturation of the Orthodox theology, which, in the end, will bring on the surface the today’s picture of her contemporary educational guideline.

The current situation in the world introduces, tries to define, analyzes and inserts man under the veil of various views, understandings and contexts. Despite that, the common understanding and perception of the human being is of that he in reality is an individual. In addition to this, the human being is also a person, which is a more complex and unique definition of his human nature. The orthodox anthropology suggests that his nature is a unified whole, composed of both internal and external elements, defining him as unitas multiplex. Anthropologically speaking, he is the only one that can enter the depths of his own existence via the human self-perception in respect of the other created beings. In that way, he is able to visibly emerge from the simplicity of the tangible reality that surrounds him, because he is created unusual and in no way as simple, but rather extraordinary in his complex psychosomatic nature. That is why he cannot be reduced to simple bios, nor can death be seen as his culmination, because, as a God’s creation, he is not just a simple set of cells, but much more. The ecclesiological-theological vision, in fact, reminds us that, only in Christ, through the holy sacrament of baptism, the human being can seize a new state of existence, that is, transfiguration into a person, because, through the Holy Baptism, he acquires a new way of existence through which he is configured ontologically from a human being into an ecclesiological hypostasis and precisely because of this he becomes a person, living and growing spiritually in the Church of Christ, offered to everyone by God through the power of the Holy Spirit.

The paper is focusing on reflecting the variety of secularism as a boundless concept. Secularism today has no limits, although it is itself limited as an ideology. Present in the system of international relations in the modern world, it is considered as an incorporated part in the synonyms of democracy. Throughout its historical development, the liberal concept experienced many ups and downs, although its influence on a conceptual level remained dominant, for a sole reason because the freedom, intelligence and the individuality emphasized by the liberal thought are in themselves specific and permanent. On the other hand, the form of liberalism as the voice of anti-Church is continuously present, incorporated in the social and democratic system of the states. In that regard, ideological actions against everything that has something to do with the faith are always present. This confirms the fact that secularism produces atheism, based on liberal elements.

The research paper on the Prophet Haggai and the restoration of the temple highlights the central theme of Haggai‘s prophetic message: the rebuilding of the temple as a spiritual center for the people of Israel. Haggai, one of the post-exilic prophets, addresses a time of disillusionment after the Babylonian captivity, where the people face harsh realities and slow recovery. Despite the initial excitement of returning to their land, the community struggles to rebuild both physically and spiritually. Unlike many other prophets, Haggai’s message is met with success. His call to rebuild the temple is heeded by the people, and this action leads to a renewal of their faith and a restoration of their community. The rebuilding of the temple is seen by Haggai not just as a physical structure, but as the essential spiritual center of the people’s identity, mission, and relationship with God. The paper emphasizes Haggai’s tireless zeal in motivating the people to renew their covenant with God through the temple, and how this act serves as a foundation for the people’s future spiritual and communal life. The conclusion underscores Haggai’s role in revitalizing both the faith of the Israelites and their sense of purpose among other nations.

Faith and Spiritual Renewal in Secular North Macedonia: The Pastoral Role of the Macedonian Orthodox Church - The Archbishopric of Ohrid in a Pluralistic Society
(Occasional Papers on Religion in Eastern Europe, 2025-03-01)
This article explores the relationship between faith and social dynamics in secular North Macedonia, with a focus on the Macedonian Orthodox Church-Archbishopric of Ohrid’s role in shaping spiritual values, social ethics and individual transformation. Although Republic of North Macedonia is a secular state, the Church remains a vital institution, an essential spiritual presence, offering spiritual guidance and fostering ethical frameworks that transcend cultural or national affiliations. It highlights how religious beliefs intersect with the country’s diverse cultural landscape, with an emphasis on the Church’s pastoral mission – directed not toward national or cultural constructs, but toward the transformation of individual. This ongoing spiritual influence continues to shape personal and social values in a secular context.
