Abstract: The paper focuses on the impact of the Ukrainian crisis on the Republic of Macedonia. It analyzes the official, popular, and economic responses in order to assess whether the Macedonian state and society have articulated rational policy choices and stances with regard to the new international constellations. The basic assumption of the analysis is that Macedonia, as a weak state, has nothing to say or do with respect to such dramatic international developments and that the society has been engaged in a virtual and internal “Cold War” between West and East, which only deepens the existing societal divide.
