Abstract: The aim of this paper is to examine the recent history and actual position of the Macedonian Orthodox Church – Archbishopric of Ohrid (MOC-AO), which is still not accepted by the Balkan Orthodox churches. The relation between nation and church is also examined, recognizing it as one of the causes of the present situation of the MOC. The nature of this topic dictates to use and transmits various opinions and statements of prominent Orthodox leaders, scholars and theologians.
