dc.description.abstractAs a result of the dynamic changes in the global business environment and increased competition caused by globalization, rapid technological development, frequent changes of customers’ wants and needs as well as numerous regulatory changes, companies are faced with constant uncertainty and risk, so they feel the need for changes in the organization and the execution of the key planning and performance management processes. Global trend of constant improvement in managing company’s performance contributed to the rapid development and use of the strategic performance management. Strategic performance management is a framework that encompasses various strategic and operational processes, methodologies and systems that are used for creation and successful implementation of the company's strategy. This research is focused on three fundamental strategic performance management processes: strategy formulation process, planning and forecasting process and performance measurement and reporting process. The analysis of each of the three processes includes various theoretical concepts and practical experiences related to the different phases, methods, techniques and tools that exist or are used by modern companies, in order to obtain comprehensive insights and knowledge on the experiences and challenges that companies are facing during the implementation. The research results show that there have been significant changes in the processes over the last few decades. Traditional techniques, methods and tools have been modified or completely replaced with new ones, whereas the use of contemporary ICT solutions is essential for further improvement and integration of the processes. As for Macedonian companies, the survey results show that there is a need for immediate changes in line with the current trends, in order to achieve better implementation of the processes.en_US
