Abstract
Objectives: A study has been conducted in order to determine and analyse palmar patterns as part of the dermatoglyphic characters present in healthy individuals with Macedonian, Albanian and Roma nationality.
Material and Methods: Patterns on the 600 palm prints were read and classified. The palm prints were obtained from healthy individuals of Macedonian, Albanian and Roma ethnic origin. Palm prints were taken using Cummins and Midlo ink method. Different patterns were classified and comparison was made between the three different etnical groups.
Results: The results in our population study showed similarities in frequencies of palmar patterns data of all groups. Macedonians were with more closer patterns with Albanians and more different ones compared to Roma examinees. These findings count for both sexes.
Conclusion: Variability of some patterns in different nationalities have been presented Palmar patterns are more specific for determining differencies between ethnical groups than plantar patterns in population studies. The results provide oportunity for further investigation of palmar patterns and their biological and genetic properties.
