Abstract
This article explores the care for the departed in the liturgical
practice of the Eastern Orthodox Church. The Divine Liturgy and the memorial
services show how the Church prays for both the departed and the mourners,
thus creating a cycle of ecclesiastical communion. We are reminded of the

our salvation
