Abstract
The aim of this dissertation is to analyze the impact of changes on the regulatory framework for banking operations reflected in Basel III and its impact on the business models of banks , their profitability and their risk profile. The starting point in the research are all weaknesses in risk taking processes by the banks that brought to light the financial crisis with a critical review of the solutions offered by the new regulation to avoid their repetition in the future. Economically justified are only those changes in the regulatory framework which bring greater benefits from reducing the risk of occurrence of financial crises compared with the cost that society bear from occurrence of financial crises. It is therefore necessary the new standards for banking operations to be analyzed by this angle. Macedonian banking bylaws regularly aligns with the standards of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, which is why in the dissertation there will be analazy how the stricter standards will influence on each bank in Republic of Macedonia separately, and which are the optimal activities that should be taken to minimize the influence on the new framework on their the profitability position. The financial crisis offered an excellent opportunity to study the behavior of individual institutions that constitute financial stability net. Their reaction during the financial crisis and the effects of their actions should be the grounds for establishing the optimal network for protection of financial stability. Analysis of the established financial stability net in Republic of Macedonia should be done taking into account the characteristics of the banking system, primarily its high concentration.
