Abstract
In the contemporary operating environment, the macroeconomic policy makers increasingly require the availability of quality, consistent and timely information and data. Designing and implementing quality and consistent macroeconomic policies is directly related to the need for availability of integrated and consistent macroeconomic accounts. This doctoral dissertation examines the main issues of macroeconomic accounts – national accounts, international (external) accounts, monetary accounts, fiscal accounts – mainly from three aspects: (1) methodological basis for their compiling, with special emphasis on their degree of harmonization and reconcilation. Understand and implement the methodological standards, principles and rules adopted by relevant international institutions is very important for the countries in order to have quality and internationally comparable macroeconomic accounts; (2) interrelations (links) between the macroeconomic accounts, and test their integrity; and (3) flow of funds among the main institutional sectors in the economy, whose analysis is particularly topical with the recent crisis in the developed market economies. All these aspects are the subject of special theoretical and quantitative analysis of the case of Republic of Macedonia. Special emphasis is placed on establishing and developing a methodological framework (account) for monitoring and analyzing flow of funds in the Republic of Macedonia.
