Abstract
The bishop Cyril (Stoichkov) of Belogradchik was elected Metropolitan of Skopje due to his engagement in conspiracies to overthrow the legal and legitimate Metropolitan Dorotej of Skopje. On account of the historical factography it is evident to suggest incidents of non-canonical and unethical practices of Cyril of Belogradchik at a time in which he was appointed a vicar of the Exarch Antim I, as well as during his ascending to the metropolitan throne of Skopje. He was send to the Eparchy of Skopje on August 27, 1874, and was officially designated its metropolitan in 1875. In August 1877, at the request of the Ottoman authorities, he had to leave Skopje and was never to return to his cathedra. At the request of the exarch Joseph in 1884 he was forced to resign from the cathedra of Skopje. In the course of his administration of the Eparchy of Skopje he used to employ a Bulgarian teaching staff in Macedonian schools and strongly derailed the revolutionary and Enlightenment movements in Macedonia.
