Abstract
Slavka Dinkova (b. Thessaloniki, 1848-1869) was one of the most famous Macedonian teachers who actively participated in the revival and enlightenment tendencies of the newly formed Macedonian intelligentsia. Her
activism and works left a strong impression on her contemporaries. The
activities Dinkova undertook made her one of the first Macedonian teachers,
one of the first authors of articles and Macedonian translators from French
and Greek, the first woman journalist in Macedonia, and the first female activist for the emancipation of women in Macedonia.
