Abstract
Novel oral anticoagulants are safer than Vitamin K antagonists (warfarin) in respect to the occurrence of bleeding, especially in terms of intracranial hemorrhage.
Furthermore they are non-inferior and to a certain degree are superior in comparison to warfarin, when it comes to the prevention of ischemic stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF).
