    GENOTYPE EXPRESSION OF TRADITIONAL PEAR VARIETY SINEC DEPENDING ON ECOLOGICAL FACTORS
    (ECO-CONFERENCE, ECOLOGICAL MOVEMENT OF NOVI SAD, 2022)
    ;
    Elizabeta Miskoska-Milevska, Katerina Nikolic
    This paper presents the results of an examination of the phenological characteristics, pomological properties and chemical composition of the fruits of the traditional pear landrace Sinec in three regions of the Republic of North Macedonia (Kumanovo, Debar and Kriva Palanka). The pear Sinec blooms in mid – April. The fruits ripen from the second decade of August (in Kumanovo and Kriva Palanka) and to the end of August (the Debar region). The landrace pear Sinec forms intermediate small fruits, while larger ones are formed in the region of Kumanovo and Debar. The fruits contain on average 13.9 % soluble dry matters, 13.04 % total sugars and 0.33 % total acids. For all investigated fruit properties are found statistically significant differences except for the content of total acids in the fruit.

    A comparative study of the content of some antioxidants in the fruits of autochthonous pomegranate varieties
    (University of Banja Luka, Faculty of Agriculture, 2022)
    ;
    The contents of total phenolics, anthocyanins, flavan-3-ols, and the fruit antioxidant activity of 9 pomegranate varieties (‘Zumnarija’, ‘Bejnarija’, ‘Valandovska kisela’, ‘Valandovska kiselo-slatka’, ‘Hidjas’, ‘Kisela’, ‘Karamustafa’, ‘Lifanka’, and ‘Ropkavec’) were examined. Autochthonous pomegranate varieties contained 4354.4 – 6480.9 mg/kg FW total phenols, 160 – 698.2 mg/kg FW anthocyanins, 96.9 – 157.2 mg/kg FW flavan-3-ols, and high antioxidant activity of fruits (71.2 – 92.5% inhibition). The ‘Valandovska kisela’ variety had the highest content of total phenolics (6480.87 mg/kg FW), flavan-3-ols (157.190 mg/kg FW) and higher fruit antioxidant activity (92.5% inhibition) compared to the standard ‘Karamustafa’ variety and the other autochthonous varieties. The ‘Hidjas’ variety had the highest content of anthocyanins (698.20 mg/kg FW). A positive correlation (0.9815) was found between the content of total phenolics and the fruit antioxidant activity. A moderate positive, insignificant correlation was also found between the content of flavan-3-ols and anthocyanins. Key words: Autochthonous pomegranate varieties, Total phenolics, Anthocyanins, Flavan-3-ols, Antioxidant activity.

    The content of vitamin C, total phenols, anthocyanins, flavan-3-ols and the fruit antioxidant activity of 6 cherry varieties (Ohridska brza, Ohridska rana, Ohridska crna, Dolga shishka, Dalbazlija and Ohridska bela) was examined. The fruits of autochthonous cherry varieties (Prunus avium L.) averagely contained 12.83 mg% vitamin C, 1386.25 mg/kg FW total phenols, 394.30 mg/kg FW anthocyanins, 69.150 mg/kg FW flavan-3-ols and had antioxidant activity 43.36% inhibition. Some of the autochthonous cherry varieties compared to the proposed standard variety showed higher values in the examined parameters. The highest content of vitamin C and the fruit antioxidant activity were recorded in Dalbazlija and Dolga shishka varieties. The highest content of total phenols had the standard variety Burlat. High content of total phenols was also found in Ohridska rana, Dalbazlija, Ohridska brza and Ohridska crna varieties. Ohridska rana and Ohridska crna varieties had higher content of anthocyanins compared to the standard variety and other autochthonous varieties. A moderate positive correlation was found between the content of anthocyanins and vitamin C. There was a moderate negative correlation between the content of flavan-3-ols and phenols. A very high positive correlation was found between the content of vitamin C and the antioxidant activity, while other chemical compounds had little or no effect on the antioxidant activity of cherry fruits.

    CONTENT OF SOME ANTIOXIDANTS IN THE FRUITS OF AUTOCHTHONOUS APPLE VARIETIES
    (ECO-CONFERENCE, ECOLOGICAL MOVEMENT OF NOVI SAD, 2022)

    Abstract The content of vitamin C, total phenols, anthocyanins, flavan-3-ols and the antioxidant fruit activity of 7 apple varieties (Ubavo cvetka, Shareno blago, Prespanka, Tetovka, Karapasha, Kozharka, Bela Tetovka) were examined. Most of the autochthonous varieties had better properties and higher antioxidant activity compared to the standard variety Idared. The autochtho nous variety Bela tetovka had the highest content of total phenols (7544.59 mg/kg FW), flavan 3-ols (1019.957 mg/kg FW) and antioxidant fruit activity (87.2% inhibition). A positive corre lation was found between total phenols and flavan-3-ols with the antioxidant activity, as well as between flavan-3-ols and phenols. Moderate negative correlation was detected between the content of vitamin C and flavan-3-ols.
