(basil) is an herbaceous annual species. For sale, basil is grown as fresh, dried, frozen or in the form of essential oils. In addition to the above-mentioned, basil is also an ornamental species that is mostly used as a potted plant or aromatic species cultivated in private gardens. The stem is herbaceous, erect and 40-60 cm in height. Flowering begins in the middle of the sixth month and lasts about two months. Mentha x piperita L. (peppermint) is an ornamental, perennial, medicinal, aromatic and honey-bearing species with a branched stem of 40 to 100 cm in height. It is used fresh, dried, or in the form of essential oils. The peppermint leaves are of dark green in colour, serrated, pointed, opposite positioned and oval in shape. The plant blooms from June to October. The paper also contains results of a survey whose goal was to investigate the perception and attitudes of respondents about the ornamental characteristics, and also the applications of different cultivars and varieties of basil and peppermint. The survey was conducted during the first half of 2022. When it comes to ornamental characteristics, respondents do prefer cultivars with a "more special" appearance of leaves and flowers. The decorative characteristics and application of basil and peppermint plants were regarded with very good marks. Maintaining the species in private gardens is mostly perceived as easy. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, THE EFFECT OF DIVERSE FERTILIZERS ON THE QUALITY OF BEGONIA SEMPERFLORENS LINK. ET OTTO.(2022) ;Margarita Davitkovska ;Zvezda Bogevska ;Gordana Popsimonova ;Rukie AgicAna VujoševićThis research was carried out to analyze the effect of diverse types of fertilizers and concentrations on the morphological features of Begonia semperflorens Link. et Otto., as well as to determine the most appropriate concentration of fertilizer to obtain the highest plant quality. Different types of liquid fertilizers and concentrations were used in this experiment - Agrosal with NPK 10-5-5 + microelements (0.2%; 0.3%; 0.4%), Agrosal with NPK 7-1-5 + microelements (0.2%; 0.3%; 0.4%) and Agrosal with NPK 12-5-7 + microelements (0.2%; 0.3%; 0.4%). For measurement, 30 plants were used per treatment, three months after planting into plastic containers. The following biometric parameters were analyzed: plant height (mm), number of leaves, number of branches, and number of inflorescences. Measurements of biometric parameters showed that the liquid mineral fertilizer Agrosal with NPK 12-5-7 + microelements and a concentration of 0.4% showed the highest average number of branches and number of inflorescences. Agrosal with NPK 12-5-7 + microelements and concentration of 0.3% showed the highest average height of plant and Agrosal with NPK 7-1-5 + microelements and concentration of 0.2% showed the highest average number of leaves. Agrosal with NPK 12-5-7 + microelements and a concentration of 0.4% can be recommended in practice. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Ornamental values and inventorying of vegetable garden plants in decorative private gardens in the territory of the city of Knin(2020) ;Boris Dorbić ;Biljana Jurić-Ćivro ;Željko Španjol ;Emilija FriganovićBranka Ljevnaić-MašićVegetable garden plants have always been an integral part of decorative gardens. They provide the garden with features of casualness, while simultaneously also being useful and ornamental if they are properly incorporated into the garden area. The paper presents the significance and the importance of vegetable garden as an integral part of the garden, as well as ornamental characteristics of individual vegetable garden plant types. The research segment of the paper provides inventorying of vegetable garden plant types in decorative private gardens in the territory of the city of Knin. Taxonomic analysis included 20 plant species, i.e. Angiospermae, all the species, which also includes Dicotyledonae (16; 80 %), whose share is higher than that of Monocotyledonae (4; 20 %) and they have been grouped in nine families. It is important to highlight the plant family Solanaceae that has the largest number of species (4 species). - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Sensory evaluation of different infusions from aromatic herbs(2019) ;Boris Dorbić ;Emilija Friganović ;Marija Slipčević ;Margarita DavitkovskaZvezda BogevskaBoth in the past and in the present humans have been surrounded and dependent on medicinal herbs. They gradually gained a deeper insight into them, primarily for the purpose of use in traditional medicine and subsequently also in order to use in everyday diet. All the parts of the plant that contain active substances (e.g. fruit, flower, leaf, stem, root, tuber, etc.) are used in the processing of aromatic plants. Tea can be prepared as an infusion, decoction, extraction through cooking and maceration. Most teas are prepared as an infusion. The general part of the paper provides a description of biological and chemical characteristics of aromatic plants whose infusion had been used for sensory evaluation, such as: lavender, linden, chamomile, peppermint (mint), fennel, sage and thyme. In the practical segment of the paper, the method of consumer sensory evaluation was used to evaluate the infusions made from the previously mentioned species of aromatic plants (20 grams monodose) produced by the company Franck L.t.d. Zagreb, which was simultaneously also the objective of this paper. Sensory evaluation was conducted during the second half of 2018 on a sample of 20 students from Marko Marulić Polytechnic of Knin. According to the evaluation results, sage infusion was graded as sufficient by the respondents. Infusions from lavender, thyme and linden were graded as good, whereas infusions from mint, chamomile and fennel were graded as very good by the respondents. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, The effect of two different fertilisers on the quality of Viola x wittrockiana Gams. seedlings(2020) ;Margarita Davitkovska ;Zvezda Bogevska ;Boris Dorbić ;Vjekoslav TanaskovicRomina KabranovaThis research was carried out to analyse the effect of diverse types of fertilisers on the morphological features of pansy seedlings (Viola x wittrockiana Gams.), as well as to decide on the most appropriate concentration of fertiliser in order to obtain the highest seedlings quality. Two different types of liquid fertilisers were used in this experiment - Magnicvet and Magnihortal with six treatments. Each treatment comprised 30 plants or a total of 180 plants in the experiment were used. 30 plants per treatment were measured, 50 days after planting into plastic containers. The following biometric parameters were analysed: plant height (mm), stem thickness (mm), number of branches and number of flower buds. Measurements of biometric parameters showed that the liquid mineral fertiliser Magnihortal with NPK 10-5-5 + micro elements is more appropriate as compared with the liquid mineral fertiliser Magnicvet with NPK 7-1-5 + micro elements concerning the reinforced nutrition and eventually the enhanced quality of Viola x wittrockiana Gams. seedlings. Treatment V (Magnihortal 0.3 %) showed the highest average height of seedlings, average stem thickness and average number of branches, while the treatment VI (Magnihortal 0.4 %) showed the highest average number of flower buds. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Perceptions and attitudes about ornamental characteristics of sub-mediterranean deciduous trees during the winter season(2018) ;Boris Dorbić ;Sandra Dukić ;Emilija Friganović ;Margarita DavitkovskaZvezda BogevskaThe selection of appropriate trees is extremely important whilst designing different landscape surfaces, since it frequently defines both the appearance and the comfort of the open space. Ornamental values of the tree species throughout the year need to be considered. Some deciduous trees can show their ornamental value even during the winter season. Due to one or more ornamental characteristics (habitus, tree bark, tree trunk, branches, twigs and fruits) during the winter season, around 10 species of trees can be highlighted in the sub-Mediterranean climate, which is also the climate in the city of Knin. They include the following tree species: Celtis australis L., Ulmus pumila L., Tilia cordata Mill, Morus nigra L., Aesculus hippocastanum L., Acer negundo L. etc. Consequently, the objective of this paper was to conduct research on perceptions and attitudes about ornamental characteristics and the use of deciduous sub-Mediterranean trees during the winter season. The survey research was conducted in April and May of 2017 on a sample of 50 respondents originating from the area of the city of Knin and its outskirts. Based on the findings of the previously mentioned research, the conclusion was reached that the respondents originating from the city of Knin and its outskirts evaluated the ornamental characteristics for the use of eight out of nine selected tree species with the average grade good. The hybrid plane tree referred to as London plane or Platanus x hispanica Münchh received the highest grade. They most probably liked this species due to its unusual appearance (habitus, fruit, tree trunk etc.) and its less frequent use in parks and landscape surfaces. The findings of this research can be used for the purpose of design of different landscape surfaces aimed at increasing user comfort and satisfaction. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Two different types of liquid fertilisers were used in this experiment - Magnicvet and Magnihortal with six treatments. Each treatment comprised 30 plants or a total of 180 plants in the experiment were used. 30 plants per treatment were measured randomly, four months after planting into pots. The following biometric parameters were analysed: plant height (mm), number of leaves, number of flower buds and number of flowers. Measurements of biometric parameters showed that the liquid mineral fertiliser Magnicvet with NPK 7-1-5 + micro elements is more appropriate as compared with the liquid mineral fertiliser Magnihortal with NPK 10-5-5 + micro elements concerning the reinforced nutrition and eventually the enhanced quality of Primula acaulis Hill.. Treatment with Magnicvet 0,4% showed the highest average number of leaves and average number of flower buds, while the treatment with Magnicvet 0,2% showed the highest average plant height and the treatment with Magnicvet 0,3% showed the highest average number of flowers.
