Item type:Publication, Political Attitude and Personality in a Democratic Society(Kosovo Public Policy Cente, 2010)Achieving democracy is the main goal and long term dedication of all Western Balkan countries, especially in the context of the efforts to achieve EU membership. Democratization is a long-term process for these countries, where transition was connected to war (as was the transition of former Yugoslav republics). Transition is a period between two political systems. The transition away from socialism in former Yugoslavia began with nationalism and traditionalism. Thus, the transformation of political attitudes (which means the transformation of political culture) is essential to establishing a democratic society. Establishing democratic institutions in those countries is just a beginning. As researchers and theoreticians have note, democracy cannot be sustained in a society without transforming the political attitudes and political culture of citizens. The political culture of citizens should contain elements of a participative culture such as having a sense of responsibility for society and becoming concerned about human rights and human development. Research conducted in the Republic of Macedonia shows that socialism is still the dominant political ideology among students. Almost 80% of students have socialist political beliefs (Markovic, 2008). Another research study among students shows the internalizing of political attitudes depends on certain personality traits (Markovic, 2009). These findings show that personality can be shaped, and that certain personality profiles correspond with democratic identity. For example, this research (Markovic, 2009) shows that neuroticism influences introjections of traditional attitudes about family, education and freedom of speech. Openness to experiences and extroversion influence attraction to democratic attitudes about family, education, and freedom of speech. These findings show that personality can be shaped through education and most importantly, through real life lessons about good practices of democratic credo. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Media Framing: How Can the Constitutional Name of One Country Be Changed?(Polish Communication Association, 2020-07-21);
The Macedonian-Greek agreement to change the name of the Republic of Macedonia resulted in a referendum. The columns of relevant opinion leaders published in electronic media during the official referendum campaign was the focus of interest and research presented in this article. The sample comprised 57 columns by 19 columnists. The discussion of the findings in this paper is based on framing theory with media content analyses; the template for media monitoring was used as an instrument based on human coding. The main research question addressed in this paper is: “How are opinion leaders setting frames?” The hypothesis is that opinion leaders use different themes and scripts to construct media framing due to narrow public opinion “for” or “against/boycott” the change of the constitutional name. Two negative, emotionally charged frames were identified: the frame “for” promoted positive messages reinforced with ideas about the EU and NATO membership; the frame “against/boycott” promoted messages that Macedonian identity will be lost.
- Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Personality dimensions and student’s participatory behaviour in student organization(Institute for Sociological, Political and Juridical research, University SS. Cyril and Methodius, Skopje, Republic of Macedonia, 2018); This text is based on the analysis of the data obtained from the wider research about the student’s participation in Student organization. During May, 2017 the field research among students at University of “Ss Cyril and Methodius” (UKIM) in Skopje was conducted. The total number of respondents was 669. Respondents were students from 1 till 5 year from almost all faculties which constitute UKIM. For the purpose of this research, two scales (Agreeableness and Conscientiousness) from the short version of IPIP NEO, (Five Factorial personality test) and Questionnaire were used. Agreeableness (A) personality dimension is a tendency to be compassionate and cooperative rather than suspicious and antagonistic toward others, and dimension Conscientiousness (C), is a tendency to be self-disciplined, to act dutifully. Both dimensions are relevant in institutionalized forms of participation (as student organization is). Questionnaire contains set of questions which were indicators for student’s participatory behavior. In this research participatory behavior has been defined as involvement and influence that students have in decision- making processes in student organization. The overall findings of this research pointed out that independent variables - personality dimensions (Agreeableness and Consciousness) cannot predict student’s participatory behavior in their student organization. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Student’s Social Justice Motivation and Attitude toward Students’ organization(Institute for Sociological, Political and Juridical Research – University “Ss.Cyril and Methodius” Skopje, 2018); Student organizations exist and should exist to protect the rights and interests of their members. If certain research is correct and say that more than 80% of students in Macedonia are not members of any student organization, then the situation is worrying and of course it is necessary to find suitable ways to change it. Therefore, a research team at the Institute for Sociological, Political and Juridical Research conducted a research on student organization, in particular about the ways in which students work, their attitudes and opinions about student organization, and their motivation to behave in accordance with the concepts of social justice. In the period of May 2017, 669 students from different faculties at the University “Ss.Cyril and Methodius” were examined about their views and opinions for student organization, as well as their moral motivation, or whether they are morally motivated to behave in accordance with the principles of social justice in society. The results show that students do not understand the concept of social justice and are very little aware that with their behavior they contribute to the fight for social justice. This also means that if they are not fully aware about their potential contribution in society they will not be active in the processes of student’s life and their future. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, DISCOURSE OF EMOTIONS IN THE COLUMNS IN THE INTERNET MEDIA IN THE PERIOD BEFORE THE REFERENDUM ON CHANGING THE CONSTITUTIONAL NAME OF REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA(The Faculty of Law, Goce Delchev University in Shtip, Republic of Macedonia, 2019); On 17 June 2018, the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Greece signed the Prespa Agreement that closed the long-standing dispute about the name of the Republic of Macedonia. The government then decided to hold a consultative referendum, and the campaign, although unofficial, has already begun. By September 30th, when the referendum was scheduled in the media, numerous personalities appeared: journalists, professors, writers, civil activists, experts from various fields, as well as holders of political functions in the role of columnists, called by the media to say their opinion and position on the change of the constitutional name of their country. The survey is an attempt to see who people were signed on the texts entitled as columns in the period from the signing of the Prespa Agreement to the day of the referendum vote in electronic versions of newspapers, as well as internet portals /information websites; from which sphere of professional life they come; by which dynamic their texts appear; and with which discourse of emotion they try to influence the opinion of the audience. The analysis showed that readers of internet portals witnessed a large number of expert opinions in the research period, and most of them were with negative emotional charge, so there is a dilemma about the loss of the value of the column and its potential positive benefits in making such important decisions for a nation, such as the change of the state name. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, SHAPING AND MODELING PERSONALITY IN PROCESS OF LONG LASTING TRANSITION-CASE OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA(Goce Delcev University, Shtip, Republic of Macedonia, 2016); The years of socio-economic and political transition in the Republic of Macedonia were characterized with: rising ethnic tensions, refugee crisis, transformation of the political system and political ideology, and the introduction of political pluralism. Macedonia faced interethnic tensions which escalated with the war conflict in 2001. There were more or less other problems with neighbors which were related with the identity of Macedonian nation and Macedonian state. During the period of more than 15 years (1999-2015), Psychological laboratory at the Institute for Sociological Political and Juridical Research (ISPJR) -Skopje has implemented several surveys which purpose was to indentify the process of psychological transformation of the citizens under the influence of politically motivated events. Analyses showed that politically motivated factors of stress can influence changes in the psychological processes as: perception, competence for moral judgment, identity, social attitudes, (authoritarianism) and political ideology. And, at the end, changes in the political culture bring new shape of the average personality profile. Findings showed that citizens’ average personality profiles can be shaped as a result of long lasting changes in society. The new generations of individuals become more self oriented and less prepared to participate in collective initiatives.
