In this paper we explore the influence of the state-space partitioning into specific regions, when designing switched fuzzy controllers, to the stability performance of the system. For examination purposes we have designed switched fuzzy model and appropriate switched fuzzy controller for a hovercraft vehicle, as a typical nonholonomic system. The design is made for four different ways of state-space partitioning. The simulation results verify the influence of the different partitioning of the state space to the control performance of the system.

When ensuring high-quality power supply of the power grid it is of the upmost importance to correctly detect and classify any power quality (PQ) disturbance. Selecting the most relevant features is very important in the process of training a genera machine learning model. Therefore, we analyze the power signals and extract information from them, and then select the most significant features. Additionally, an effective classification model is required. In this study we apply grid search throughout the features sets on one side, and the classification algorithms on the side. This way, we determine the most effective combination of an algorithm and feature set for classification of power quality disturbances.

Simultaneous Optimization Of Electrical Interconnection Configuration In Onshore Wind Fields

The electrical interconnection cost of onshore wind fields (WF) is a part that should not be neglected in the design of WF. In order to minimize the investment and operational costs, this paper pro-poses an optimization formulation to find the optimal electrical interconnection configuration of wind turbines (WTs), simultaneously. This simultaneous minimization of total trenching length is done during а WF layout optimization by application of evolutional algorithm. In this paper, an algorithm is considered to comprehensively assess the optimal interconnection layout of the WTs. The interconnections are considerable fraction of the overall design cost of the WF. The optimal electrical interconnection design obtained by an algorithm with implemented Euclidean Minimum Spanning Tree method, corresponds to a lower cost and coupled with the technological developments can help policy makers and WF developers increase the use of onshore wind energy as a feasible unlimited renewable source of electrical energy.

Techniques and Tools for Reliability Assessment of Power Systems
(ETAI - Society for Electronics, Telecommunications, Automatics and Informatics of the Republic of Macedonia, 2018)
Natalija Petrova, Nevenka Kiteva Rogleva, Vangel Fustik
The power system is a complex system consisting of more subsystems that are complex. Each of these subsystems has an impact on the reliability and security of the system as a whole. The functioning of the elements of this system, such as busbars, lines, switches, can affect the quality of delivered electricity as well as the reliability of the system. This paper initially defines the types of defects that can occur in the transmission and distribution grid. Then, the application of Mark’s processes is considered for determining the frequency of failures and repairing of some of the electrical equipment. In the second part a model of the power system developed in the program package Neplan is given. An analysis of the system in normal operation and in the event of a fault has been made, and also, the estimates of defects of individual elements of the power system. In addition, criteria is established on which one can make a list for replacement, rehabilitation and reconstruction of the elements of the power system in order to reduce its operating costs for operating and maintaining the reliability and security of the power system as a whole.

The paper makes insight in the current efforts of the universities to implement and perform practical knowledge to the engineering students in the business in a new economy of the new millennium and project environment they are working after graduation. The university education should be up-front in following the changes in the company’ strategy orientated towards projects with various types, sizes and categories. This challenge, especially in the engineering curricula, the universities and professors are faced with, needs their creative approach in delivering practical knowledge and skills to the young professionals that will be needed in their workplace. The examples of introducing gamification method in solving assignments at FEIT are presented and analyzed, as an positive experience for both students and professors.

The paper makes deep insight into project management and risk analysis of renewable energy sources (RES). This approach could be very helpful in the organizational and managerial approach for project success and investments in RES projects. The intent of the paper is to focus primarily on project management techniques for the purpose of achieving project’s objectives and second on tools for risk assessment of renewable energy projects in order to define and evaluate risks so that they can be adequately mitigated to attract future investment. Particular energy sources – elevated hydropower used in small hydropower plants, and photovoltaic plants are considered in Section 3, as case studies, to identify and explore risk management approach for planning risk response during project implementation. Section 3.1 provides an overview of the major identified risks which include financial, political and operational risks, risks related to human resources and risks associated with renewable energy developments and markets. Discussion and conclusion are presented at the end of the article.

This paper presents a step by step dynamic modeling of the multicopter – quadcopter based on Newton Euler formalism, including the dynamics of the motor and the propellers. The linearization of the nonlinear mathematical model of the quadrotor is derived systematically when yaw angle is not 0 . Consequently, the simulation model of the flight controller based on the cascade control has been designed, which ensures a stabilization of the quad rotor and a robust-like trajectory tracking performance. The proposed cascade control strategy including the outer inverse dynamics provides controlling of the yaw orientation angle. The comparison of a use of a linear cascade PID-PD and the combination of PID-MPC is performed on 3D referent trajectories tracking with and without the presence of periodic external torque disturbances. The results are obtained from the MATLAB simulation model.
