Semantics and significance of decoration on Macedonian traditional movable furniture from 19th century
(Faculty of Forestry, University of Zagreb, 2014)
The analysis of symbolic decoration on movable furniture is a process defi ned by expressing the inner world of thoughts and ideas through the outside, living world. The furniture and other household equip- ments were made with high functionality. Functionality of the furniture was the most important, more precisely its aestetics was a result of functionality. The world of the symbolic decoration was personal, intimate or beloged to the family, and although it was conceived and handmade by self-taught carpenter/the host, analyses reveal deep cosmological links of images with the past and tradition. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to analyze the process of creating the decoration and semantics of the Macedonian traditional movable furniture from the 19th century. Researches and analyses were made in the Republic of Macedonia, more specifi cally in several villages around the mountain of Skopska Crna Gora and in the village Dzepciste from the Tetovo region, and the region of the citty of Veles. Based on measurements of the objects, photos, drawings, foto-documentation, the paper exposed their actual appearance. Based on these drawings, analyses of symbols and forms were made, as well as a deeper analysis of the religious context within which they were made. The analyzes showed that the symbolic decoration of movable furniture in the Macedonian traditional house from the 19th century has its roots in the past as the arche- typal signs follow the furniture through the ages. The purpose of this paper was to analyze cosmological pictures of the furniture, to describe them clearly and in the future perhaps be able to apply them in a new modern context.

(Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, Faculty of Design and Technologies of Furniture and Interior in Skopje, 2013)

Macedonian experience in applying ergonomics, ergonometric principles for design of workspace in order to achieve greater productivity and efficiency, are insufficient and approximate. Taking into consideration the great importance of this science, which is always based on the anthropometry of the human body on the one hand, and the measurements taken from the project design for the furniture and the interior on the other hand, it is a valuable tool in the hands of a furniture designer nowadays. The ultimate goal is to get a quality workspace in which the human factor is very important. Through better understanding of the parameters of ergonomics, the designer can improve health and safety in the workplace. Actually, it is the designer’s obligation and task to constantly monitor the developments in the field of ergonomics, in order to implement, maintain and improve the design of furniture. The paper includes the most common ergonomic problems of specific jobs and ways to overcome them. Only by qualitative understanding of the human factor, his/her job, staffing, work environment and interactive relations that exist between them, will modern designers be able to produce healthy and safe designs, thus creating effective and productive working systems.

The aim of this paper is to analyze the quality of the wooden material in outdoor furniture. For the purpose of this work is designed exterior furniture and urban equipment or set for garden. By analyzing this type of furniture and it’s needs from anthropometrical point of view there comes the need for design of several different pieces of furniture, including: chair, armchair, stool, two person bench, 3 person bench, rectangular table, square table, swing and matching flower pots. On the other side by analyzing outdoor furniture and its needs from material aspect there are certain reasons why there is use of thermo wood, and what are the positive consequences of its use. The ultimate goal is to get a quality seating and leaving outdoor in which the human factor is very important. Through better understanding of the parameters of ergonomics, the designer can improve health and safety in furniture. Actually obligation and task of the planner is to constantly monitor research in the field of ergonomics to implement, maintain and improve the design of furniture’s. Thereby are observed anthropometric standards for this type of furniture as well as the chosen material which satisfy the conditions of permanent use and desired look.

For the purpose of this work exterior furniture and urban equipment or set of exterior furniture is designed for arranging urban area (park, square). By analyzing this type of furniture and its needs, there comes the need for designing several different pieces of furniture, including: chairs (seating for one), two- person benches, three-person benches, flower pots, ambient lighting and bins. By analyzing outdoor furniture and its needs from material aspect, one can realize that there are certain reasons why there is use of oak wood for the first model of outdoor benches, and thermo wood for the second model of outdoor benches. This paper analyzes the benefits of using these types of wood. In the process of designing, one starts from the square as a geometrically most stable shape, and its further development and integration in the shape of the outdoor furniture. The anthropometric standards researched for this type of furniture, as well as the choice of material, should meet the requirements and needs of the desired look. The ultimate goal is to get a quality sitting and living outdoor in which the human factor is very important. Through better understanding of the parameters of ergonomics, the designer can improve the health and safety of the furniture users. Actually, the obligation and the task of the planner is to constantly monitor research in the field of ergonomics in order to implement, maintain and improve the design of furniture.

With this paper it is made an analysis of the concepts for organization of one interior space with two different functions. The purposes of the interior determine the project. Interiors can carry on many different functions. The purpose of this research paper is to analyze the process of designing an office space, by comparing two companies/entities from different sectors, two completely different ways and approaches. Thus, to maximize the efficiency of the design process and minimize the time needed to resolve potential issues that may arise at work. The goal set, the efficiency of the design in office spaces is implicative for this topic and it involves all the elements of design: shape, dimension, colour, texture, light, proportion, scale, balance, harmony, composition, modularity. This analysis is made through strategic planning of the office space. With this analysis the users of the office space would have detailed overview of the space in which they should work the arrangement of the furniture and other inventory and also of the way the employees are being arranged in the company and what conditions are provided to them. Also there is a short overview of the ergonomic principles that can be applied. With this method a detailed analysis is provided over the concepts for the organization and furnishing with furniture of office spaces.
