Item type:Publication, The Role of Ultrasound in the Diagnosis of Soft Tissue Tumors(Georg Thieme Verlag KG, 2020-04) ;Aparisi Gómez, Maria Pilar ;Errani, Costantino ;Lalam, Radhesh; Fanti, StefanoThe vast majority of soft tissue masses are benign. Benign lesions such as superficial lipomas and ganglia are by far the most common soft tissue masses and can be readily identified and excluded on ultrasound (US). US is an ideal triaging tool for superficial soft tissue masses. Compared with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), High-resolution US is inexpensive, readily available, well tolerated, and safe. It also allows the radiologist to interact with the patient as a clinician. In this review, we describe and illustrate the lesions with typical (diagnostic) US features. When the appearances of the lesion are not typical as expected for a benign lesion, lesions are deep or large, or malignancy is suspected clinically, MRI and biopsy are needed. The management of suspicious soft tissue tumors has to be carefully planned by a multidisciplinary team involving specialized surgeons and pathologists at a tumor center. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Clinical indications for image-guided interventional procedures in the musculoskeletal system: a Delphi-based consensus paper from the European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology (ESSR)-part IV, hip(Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2022-01) ;Sconfienza, Luca Maria ;Adriaensen, Miraude ;Alcala-Galiano, Andrea ;Allen, GeorginaAparisi Gómez, Maria PilarImage-guided musculoskeletal interventional procedures around the hip are widely used in daily clinical practice. The need for clarity concerning the actual added value of imaging guidance and types of medications to be offered led the Ultrasound and the Interventional Subcommittees of the European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology (ESSR) to promote, with the support of its Research Committee, a collaborative project to review the published literature on image-guided musculoskeletal interventional procedures in the lower limb in order to derive a list of clinical indications. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Clinical indications for image-guided interventional procedures in the musculoskeletal system: a Delphi-based consensus paper from the European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology (ESSR)-part VI, foot and ankle(Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2022-02) ;Sconfienza, Luca Maria ;Adriaensen, Miraude ;Albano, Domenico ;Alcala-Galiano, AndreaAllen, GeorginaClarity regarding accuracy and effectiveness for interventional procedures around the foot and ankle is lacking. Consequently, a board of 53 members of the Ultrasound and Interventional Subcommittees of the European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology (ESSR) reviewed the published literature to evaluate the evidence on image-guided musculoskeletal interventional procedures around this anatomical region. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Clinical indications for image-guided interventional procedures in the musculoskeletal system: a Delphi-based consensus paper from the European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology (ESSR)-part V, knee(Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2022-03) ;Sconfienza, Luca Maria ;Adriaensen, Miraude ;Albano, Domenico ;Alcala-Galiano, AndreaAllen, GeorginaInterventional procedures around the knee are widely adopted for treating different musculoskeletal conditions. A panel of experts from the Ultrasound and Interventional Subcommittees of the European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology (ESSR) reviewed the existing literature to assess the evidence on image-guided musculoskeletal interventional procedures around the knee, with the goal of highlighting some controversies associated with these procedures, specifically the role of imaging guidance, as well as the efficacy of the medications routinely injected. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Soft tissue tumor imaging in adults: whole-body staging in sarcoma, non-malignant entities requiring special algorithms, pitfalls and special imaging aspects. Guidelines 2024 from the European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology (ESSR)(Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2024-07-20) ;Noebauer-Huhmann, Iris-Melanie ;Vanhoenacker, Filip M ;Vilanova, Joan C ;Tagliafico, Alberto SWeber, Marc-AndréThe revised European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology (ESSR) consensus guidelines on soft tissue tumor imaging represent an update of 2015 after technical advancements, further insights into specific entities, and revised World Health Organization (2020) and AJCC (2017) classifications. This second of three papers covers algorithms once histology is confirmed: (1) standardized whole-body staging, (2) special algorithms for non-malignant entities, and (3) multiplicity, genetic tumor syndromes, and pitfalls. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Soft tissue tumor imaging in adults: European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology-Guidelines 2023-overview, and primary local imaging: how and where?(Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2024-07) ;Noebauer-Huhmann, Iris-Melanie ;Vanhoenacker, Filip M ;Vilanova, Joan C ;Tagliafico, Alberto SWeber, Marc-AndréEarly, accurate diagnosis is crucial for the prognosis of patients with soft tissue sarcomas. To this end, standardization of imaging algorithms, technical requirements, and reporting is therefore a prerequisite. Since the first European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology (ESSR) consensus in 2015, technical achievements, further insights into specific entities, and the revised WHO-classification (2020) and AJCC staging system (2017) made an update necessary. The guidelines are intended to support radiologists in their decision-making and contribute to interdisciplinary tumor board discussions.
