Abstract: The analytic-continental turmoil within the history of philosophy has resulted in severe criticism from two sides. The proponents from the analytic side were accused of “anachronism” in finding contemporary meaning in texts which they do not contain, and from the continental side for “historicism” and weak argumentation. Over the last few decades, these evaluations have been critically reconsidered both in the interpretative practices and in the meta-analysis of this phenomenon. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the views of the most important authors of the two traditions that deal with this problem in order to amplify the implications of this dispute. In addition, this article will show that this encounter must take place within the wide interests of philosophical investigation, which, at the same time, does not exclude contextual elements of the existential dimension of human life as well as the transtemporal paradigms of human rationality.
