Abstract: This chapter presents our findings concerning the effects of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and the case law of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) on some of the key pillars of democratisation in the Republic of Macedonia. Within the general framework of the book, ‘the effects’ are analysed through the legislative, institutional, and other changes, which have been introduced in the country because of its policy of domestication (ratification, application, and interpretation) of the norms and principles of the ECHR and its court’s case law
