Abstract: The adhesion has been tested with a modified DIN 53 151 (Gitterschnitt) method "with two crossed cuts" of a varnished wooden surface. These tests contain massive beech wood and three types of coating: nitrocellulose (NC), polyurethane (PU) and polyester (PE). The surface has been prepared by the grinding system 120+180. The adhesion results of the system varnish-surface are shown via tables and graphically. The tests results show that the amount of the spreading system of varnishing, or the amount of the film coating as well as the varnished type, greatly affect the adhesion scope. The dependence between the adhesion scope and thickness of the film coating is inversely proportionate.
