Abstract: One of the major challenges for all online businesses is to attract visitors to their websites. Search Engines, as a result of their popularity, are confirmed as the most important source of numerous and high quality visitors to commercial and noncommercial websites. Researches show that up to 50% of all new visitors to websites originate from search engines who also have highest conversion rates since their clear intention while searching. Those online businesses that practice Search Engine Optimization, a set of methods that can improve a website’s ranking in search results, attract more visitors what improves their overall online business performance. Search Engine Optimization, besides the fact that is an effective method for attracting numerous and quality visitors, can also be observed as a holistic online business approach for designing, establishing and managing successful online presence that comprises: generating business ideas, market research, web development, high quality content creation, online marketing, promotion and providing informational feedback for managerial purposes. In this dissertation we discuss that business and entrepreneurs from Macedonia can also utilize Search Engine Optimization to generate traffic or to create and run successful online businesses. With proven strategic approach and appropriate online business model according to their core competences Macedonian firms and individuals can establish successful online presence, especially on foreign markets where SEO can be most rewarding.
