Abstract
The syntagma of Matthew Blastares is a well-known late Byzantine legal source. It was
composed in the 1335 and in the next decades had been translated and spread among the
Orthodox Slavs on the Balkans. The subjects of the paper are issues of matrimony and
divorce. Precisely based on the Christian behaviour it is important to be shown how canonical
and civil provisions are respected in Blastares’ compilation.
