Abstract
The media are an important component of any democratic society developed. They are an important link in the process of communication with the public, but not only as a technical means to transmit information or just as a passive intermediaries between senders and receivers of messages, but more like the ones that change the language, form and structure of the message and hence strongly affect the sender and the receiver of the message causing a variety of social and psychological consequences.
But, at the same time, searching for exclusivity, racing against time, the media forget the true values and ethics in reporting and presentation of specific marginalized groups in the society. Namely, without thinking about moral and ethical standards, journalists are often reporting sensationalisticly on topics related to LGBT people, aware of the fact that they evoke the emotional side of the public as the most appropriate way to sell the story.
The main objective of this text is to show the image and the way on which the media representation of LGBT people is in the print media in R. Macedonia, through the results of a survey conducted in 2011, and hence to try to note and analyze the main problems for this situation.
