Abstract: The focus of the subject of this research is the health, educational and social challenges faced by the family of a child with special needs and developmental problems, in the Republic of Macedonia, in terms of the repercussions that impact on family dynamics and quality of life. The basic research tasks are: to determine the effects of the child’s disability on social and family life; characteristics of the domestic environment in the local community and wider, as well as to identify the priorities in terms of the support and protection of the local community / state, as well as to propose measures to overcome them. There were used innovative and pioneering methods and techniques in the theory and practice of special education as a descriptive analysis through description of interactive sessions, wеb discussion by opening two forum groups on the following topics: Marriage parents, and Relationship brothers-sisters-a child with special needs and developmental disabilities “and the SWOT analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and constraints for support and treatment of the child with special needs and developmental problems within the family and determine future priorities for action. The survey included 329 families of children with special needs and developmental problems of followed municipalities: Veles, Chashka, Gradsko, St. Nikole, Gevgelija, Struga, Kumanovo, Tetovo and Skopje. The results of the survey made it possible to obtain a representative picture of the effects of model performance disability of the child and family environment, which provides / should be providing care and treatment to children and their families. The quality of family support is in direct correlation with the development of society and has a time dimension. The Republic of Macedonia, affected by socioeconomic crisis and the long development reform, not yet sufficiently developed formal and informal forms of care and support for children with special needs and developmental problems, and for their family.
