Abstract
In this paper, an analysis of the use of a pumping station from a heating plant in Skopje is
performed. Characteristic of the pump station is that the pressure increase is two-stage with series-mounted pump units - a series of pumps. The pump unit of the first and second series have different operating characteristics. Seven parallel series of pumps are installed at the pumping station. The efficiency of the pumping station is directly related to the operating conditions of the pump sets. The analysis given in this paper is performed for operating conditions of the pump units without additional regulation at nominal rotational speed, i.e. the operating conditions of the pump unit to be achieved through the operating characteristics of the pump units. The analysis of the transition conditions is performed numerically by setting up a model that is calibrated through field measurements. Transient conditions include switching on and off water heating units, changes in network conditions and system consumers. The results of the analysis of the transition conditions refer to the fulfillment of the safety technical limitations that should be achieved in the individual heating units, in cases of connection or disconnection in the system, i.e. defining
the necessary technical preconditions of the pumping station during operational use.
