Abstract
Introducing new technology in the agro industry in Macedonia at this stage is of paramount importance
for the SMEs in order to be competitive on the domestic and international markets. The importance is even
greater when that technology is related to environment since that is an area in which the legislation is becoming stricter.
The National Cleaner Production Centre – Macedonia is implementing a project that will help companies from
the agro industry in Macedonia to adopt low carbon technologies according the UNIDO approach – dematerializing
products, increasing process efficiencies, minimizing process emissions, switching to low carbon inputs and closing
the carbon loop. This paper presents the challenges and results achieved in the process of implementation of the Low
Carbon Technologies in a company from the agro industry in Macedonia. The selected company is a dairy with traditional
production processes interested in lowering the environmental burden and improving its competitiveness.
