Abstract
The article maps domestic work in North Macedonia – i.e. the number and main sociodemographic characteristics of domestic workers; describes the legal and employment arrangements frameworks that apply to domestic workers in the country; and then sets out the specific conditions for (and possible gaps in) access to social and labour protection for domestic workers. It goes on to discuss the issues of undeclared work, regularisation and labour shortages in the country, before presenting recent and ongoing reforms and debates in the country. Finally, a concluding section makes suggestions on the way forward for improving social protection and labour rights for domestic workers in the country.
