Abstract
Convergence insufficiency (CI) is a common binocular disorder in which the eyes do not work well at near fixation. Recent studies suggest a possible correlation between CI and ADHD. Prevalence of CI in the ADHD population may be three times higher than in the population at large. Children with ADHD, to avoid misdiagnosis, must have a comprehensive eye examination that tests for convergence insufficiency. It is not yet known whether convergence insufficiency causes ADHD or is only associated with ADHD.
