Aim: To determine the concentration of plasma homocysteine (Hcy) and the lipid risk factors: total cholesterol (TC), HDL-cholesterol (HDL-C), LDL-cholesterol (LDL-C) and triglycerides (TG) in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) and healthy subjects, control group, as well as, to investigate the correlation between tHcy and lipid parameters in the set two groups of subjects. Material and Methods: The investigation included 80 healthy subjects and 80 patients with CAD divided by gender. The concentration of Hcy was determined by the spectrophotometric cyclic enzymatic method, TC and TG and HDL-C were determined by standardized and routine enzymatic methods; LDL-C was calculated by the Friedewald’s formula. Results: The concentration of Hcy were statistically significant higher in both sex with CAD compared to the control (p<0.001). The levels of lipids were statistically significant higher while HDL-C statistically significant lower in patients in comparison with control group (p<0.05). There were positive correlations between Hcy and TC, TG and LDL-C, and negative correlation between Hcy and HDL-C in group of men with CAD. Values for X2test (x2=35.48 and p <0.001) have showed a significant association between Hcy concentration and CAD. Increasing the concentration of tHcy for 1μmol/L, is leads to on increased risk for the occurrence of CAD for 25.2%. Conclusion: The concentration of plasma Hcy is independent risk factor for occurance and development of CAD.

Febrile proteinuria is functional proteinuria and is seen as a transitory phenomenon during acute febrile illness, mainly viral infections. It is a benign phenomenon and clears promptly with resolution of the infection.

In the available literature on this subject there are many studies which describe the effects of sexually transmitted infections on pregnancy and fertility of women. Because of the frequency of the infections with the atypical bacteria of the Ureaplasma Spp., Mycoplasma Spp., Chlamydia Trachomatis, as well as HPV infections in women of reproductive age, it is easy to underestimate their importance when establishing the basis of the genital health of women of reproductive age. In this prospective analysis, conducted from 2014 to 2018 in the laboratory for HPV and Molecular diagnostics at the University Clinic of Gynaecology and Obstetrics in Skopje, North Macedonia, we analysed the results of 10,387 patients of all ages, of which 973 patients were of reproductive age. A Panel analysis was also conducted (including the above-mentioned pathogens). An HPV analysis was also conducted on 643 patients in this group. Within the group of 643 patients, there was a positive result for HPV in 26.7% of them, while in 40.9% there was a positive result for one or more pathogens on the Panel analysis of bacterial pathogens. The statistical analysis of the results showed that the most frequent of all bacterial pathogens within the Macedonian population of women of reproductive age is Ureaplasma Spp, with an incidence of 33%, followed by Mycoplasma Spp., with 7.8%, while Chlamydia Trachomatis was present in 6.4% of the cases. We should highlight that a co-infection with HPV was present in 18.5% of all the patients where there was analysis of both diagnostic procedures. The analysis of the results in the patients co-infected with HPV and at least one bacterial pathogen on the Panel Analysis, showed a very high statistical correlation (p<001).

The aim of the study was to examine the influence of a new synbiotic fermented soymilk on microbiota and lipid profile in rats. In addition body weight, and stool consistency were also investigated. Мaterial and methods: Soy milk fortified with prebiotic (Synergy1) was fermented with probiotic L casei-01. The viable L casei-01 counts in fermented end product were 11.49±0.13 log10 cfu mL-1. 1 ml of synbiotic fermented soymilk was administered daily to six months old male spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR’s). After 4 weeks treatment, jejunal, illeal, colon and fecal samples were analyzed for Lactobacillus spp, E coli, Enterococcus spp and Staphylococcus spp viable counts. Cholesterol, triglycerides and HDL concentrations in blood samples were determined. Results: The significantly higher viable Lactobacillus spp counts followed with significantly decreased E coli and Enterococcus spp counts in all samples were observed in treated vs. control group. Staphylococcus spp counts were significantly decreased in colon samples. The difference in lipide profile was insignificant. In conclusion, synbiotic fermented soymilk significantly improved the composition of the intestinal microbiota in rats. The lipid profile of healthy adult spontaneously hypertensive rats was not altered.
