Ако бременоста се смета како психолошки ранлив период, тогаш мора да се констатира дека ефектот на негативните ефекти на стресот за време на бременоста се многу поинтензивни. Литературата содржи резултатите од бројни студии и клинички опсервации на воспоставениот однос помеѓу психосоцијалните фактори и негативниот исход на бременоста.

    Legal vs. factual social protection status of persons with intellectual disabilities in the Republic of Macedonia

    The analysis in this paper concerns national Macedonian legistation with regards to the social protection of persons with intellectual disabilities. The paper is based on the assumption that the quality of the legal acts which regulate the rights of the people with intellectual disability have direct implications for the achievement of factual equality of these persons with other citizens. Nevertheless, it is an undisputable fact that the exercising of these rights largely depends on whether the regulations are being implemented consistently in practice and what kind of a factual effect they have over the quality of life of the persons with intellectual disabilities. Having a purpose to offer a realistic view of the factual situation, we conducted semi-structured interviews and focus groups with target groups consisting of parents of children with intellectual disabilities as well as professionals who work directly with them. The whole picture regarding the factual situation was completed with the analysis of the data received from the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy. Primary goal of the research was to note the disadvantages in current legislation and practice in the social protection field, as well as to determine specific directions and recommendations for improvement of the social status of persons with intellectual disabilities and their approach to information and services in this sector.

    Quality of life in children without parents placed in foster families

    Republic of Macedonia establishes the system of social protection and enables its functioning, by providing conditions and measures for social-protective activities. By promoting the process of deinstitutionalization, the idea of preventing the institutionalization of children with moderate and severe mental disability is imposed, as well as the need to initiate activities to support families, including taking responsibility for improving the quality of life of children while keeping them in a home environment. Carers who aggree to care for a child within the family, need to provide love, warmth and care for his health, education, as well as provide stability and security. Within this research, we questioned 47 children who receive care outside the institutions (SOS foster families and other foster families) and 38 children placed in institutional care (11 Oktomvri). The quality of life was assessed with the questionnaire for the quality of life. Results showed that males aged 5-12 years within the system of social protection evaluate their quality of life as lowest, children and adolescents from institutions evaluate their quality of life lower compared with children and adolescents in foster families and the general population. Also, children and adolescents from institutions have the lowest score in emotional functions as a domain of quality of life, while the children and adolescents of the foster families have a minimum quality of life in the area of physical functioning.

    Tendencies for perceived self-efficacy and procrastination in students

    This research was conducted in order to examine the relationship between the tendency to perceived self-efficacy and procrastination among third year students, divided by gender and school success to determinate if there are any difference in terms of procrastination and self efficacy. For the purpose of the research is used a convenience sample of 92 participants of which 29 male and 63 female respondents who are students in third year high school Josip Broz Tito in Skopje. To collect data used appropriate measuring instruments such as The General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSE- like for general self-efficacy - Version student population) and The General Procrastination Scale (Lay, 1986).

    Parental satisfaction of children with moderate and severe intellectual disability treated in daycare centers

    Modern trends of treatment of children with moderate and severe intellectual disability points to the need for improved treatment in daycare centers and other services for their support in the community. The biological families must be given greater support to prevent the need of institutionalization. In order to achieve social inclusion community needs to offer more services for children with intellectual disability. Using qualitative and quantitative research strategies we give the current picture of parental satisfaction with treatment in daycare centers in the Republic of Macedonia and take note of the main proposals of parents for improve functioning of daycare centers, but also the quality of life of their children and families in general. For this research we applied our instrument that measures the satisfaction of parents / foster parents after four essentials: quality of service, independence of children, social literacy and adaptability. Using focus groups, we got the biggest problems faced by parents / foster parents and stated their proposals. This survey covered a total of 145 respondents, of which 115 in the role of parents and 30 foster parents of children with moderate and severe intellectual disability. The research results indicate that parents are satisfied with the treatment in daycare centers, but still have a number of proposals from which they expect more support to children and the family as a whole. The role of the respondents had no significance in terms of customer satisfaction, as well as sex and education, a degree of intellectual disability of children is related only in part of the quality of services. There is a positive correlation between the quality of service, independence, social literacy and adaptability.

    Educational policies and practical implications for children with intellectual disability in the Republic of Macedonia

    Educational policy for children with intellectual disability in Republic of Macedonia is not always consistent with the practical implications. The subject of this research was to gain an insight into the current condition of the persons with intellectual disabilities in Macedonia, before all an insight into the barriers that they are facing in their attempts to access educational information and services. This was done through conducting a qualitative (desk-top analyses of the national legislations; semi-structured interviews with parents of persons with intellectual disabilities and focus groups with relevant stakeholders) and a quantitative research (quality of life research for the disabled persons). In the research a total number of 213 examinees were included. As in many other cases, and in many other countries, policy and practice are not always coherent. Legislation in the area of education in our country has to be modified and accommodated to the needs of the persons with disabilities and their parents or care-givers. The final conclusion from our research is that the persons with ID are still on the margins of society, and they lead everyday battles to prove that their needs must be taken into consideration in context of their human rights. Although awareness for the importance of the rightful treatment of this problem is not on a satisfactory level, still we can notice a shift in perception and liberation of prejudice.

    Social skills in helping profession students for working with groups under risk

    The lack of comprehensive information concerning the social skills of students in helping professions (psychologists, social workers, pedagogues, and special educators) imposes an important task for educational trainers. Students in training should learn appropriate communion skills for working with diverse vulnerable clients and communities in order to have adequate response to those in need. The data presented in this paper were obtain with use of qualitative and quantitative methods to measure empathy, altruism, and assertiveness in 450 psychology, pedagogue, social work and special education and rehabilitation students (IRI Index of interpersonal reaction, Davis, 1996, Scale of altruism, Raboteg-Šarić, 1993 and Scale of assertiveness, Zdravković, 2004) The results showed that there is a positive relation between the level of empathy and altruism, and a negative relation between the level of empathy and assertiveness in students. In addition, there are significant differences in the birth order, gender, year of study, the quality and the quantity of the education in the field (practical work) that they have participated in during the studies. The obtained results cannot be generalize to all helping professions because of the sample limitation, but they are significant for seeing the current state in regards of the examined characteristics and for building a strategy for their improvement. At the same time, the results present a significant indicator that confirms the idea of redesigning the current study programs that would provide opportunities for the present students to get the needed competencies for providing their professional success.

    Professional burnout and balance between work and family life among teachers

    With this research can be concluded that teachers with higher professional burnout have a lower degree of balance between work and family life. This implies that schools should pay more attention to the professional burnout in their employees, because it is not only that it is perceived in their work but also in the overall quality of their lives or in the balance between work and family life. The research offers opportunities for further investigation of the causes of the established relationship. It also provides direction in deeper examination of the given problem.
