Item type:Publication, Efficiency of bank branches: empirical evidence from a two-phase research approach(Taylor & Francis Group, 2017); Savic, GordanaThe aim of this paper is to assess the relative efficiency of the branches of Komercijalna Banka AD Skopje during a three-year period (from 2009 to 2011). The research sample consists of eight branches performing the same financial activities during the reporting period. The mathematical technique DEA window analysis was used in the first phase in order to allow monitoring of the trend of the relative efficiency of each branch under consideration. From the bank management point of view, unexpected results were obtained in this phase; to validate the results the AHP-DEA validation model was proposed and used in the second phase. The management verified the obtained results claiming they were especially valuable in the process of making justifiable decisions for the further successful performance of the bank. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Efficiency of the Macedonian banking sector: A non-parametric approach(Center for Economic Analyses - CEA, 2017) ;Fotova Cikovic, KaterinaThe aim of this paper is to measure the relative efficiency of the commercial banks in Macedonia by using the non-parametric methodology Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). The key role when applying DEA for measuring the efficiency of entities is given to the selection of inputs and outputs. In our study 3 inputs and 3 outputs are selected according to the intermediation approach. The sample consists of 14 banks and the observed period is eight years (2008-2015). According to the obtained results, the average efficiency of the Macedonian banking sector in the observed period is 88.77%. There is no bank that is relatively efficient in every year in every window. The results indicate that 28.57% of the banks have an overall efficiency by years that is higher than 95%. The group of large banks has the highest efficiency in the Macedonian banking sector. Furthermore, Macedonian banks have noted lower efficiency in the post-crisis period. Findings from our paper are valuable for further use by regulators, policy makers and bank management in order for the efficiency of the relatively inefficient Macedonian banks and the banking sector as a whole to improve. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

- Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Criteria of Successful Career in Sales: Sales Managers Perspective(2016); Iliev, FilipThe goal of this paper is to determine which criteria for sales managers the most important when are choosing a candidate for the position of salesperson. That will allow students who want to build their career in sales to prepare beforehand for what will be required of them, thereby helping companies in the future hire salespersons who will be better prepared for the challenges which this profession brings. The research was conducted through a questionnaire distributed to sales managers at companies in the Republic of Macedonia. Each one of them assesses the importance of certain criteria related to formal and informal education, knowledge of foreign languages, skills, personal characteristics, etc., by using a given scale. The obtained results are presented and analyzed. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, КОРИСТЕЊЕ НА АЛАТКАТА МАПА НА УМОТ ВО НАСТАВАТА И ВО УЧЕЊЕТО(Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, Faculty of Economics - Skopje, Skopje, 2015)If the material for a particular course is learned superficially, by rote, the thinking process is being stifled and the material will be forgotten. The material should be learned with understanding, in order for the knowledge gained to be applied thenceforth. Two questionnaires were distributed to the students of the Department of Accounting and Auditing at the Faculty of Economics - Skopje, “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” University in Skopje, who attended lectures in Mathematical Methods in the academic year 2014/2015. The first questionnaire was designed to obtain information on whether they take and make notes, what they use for that purpose, and the style they use. The second one was designed to identify the benefits of the application of a tool (mind map) in the teaching and learning of the material for the course Mathematical Methods, as well as the limitations of this tool. The first questionnaire demonstrated that all of the respondents take notes when they attend the lectures at the Faculty, 94% of them take notes when reading the material for a mid-term or final exam, and all of them make notes. For note-taking and note-making, they use a sentential style or a numerical or alphabetical sketch style, using letters, words, numbers and colors. Based on the responses from the second questionnaire, 11 benefits of the application of a mind map in teaching were identified, with the ones that were most frequently referred to being: better memory, clarity, a guide for learning, an interesting way of repeating the chapter, and a better understanding of the material of each chapter. Regarding the application of the tool for learning the material of the course Mathematical Methods, 12 benefits have been identified, and the ones most frequently referred to are: fast acquisition of the material, the most important things are summarized in a clear way, the material is learned with understanding, and learning is far more interesting. Aside from the benefits, 3 limitations of the mind map tool were also identified. In addition, it was determined that 91% of the respondents want to use the mind map tool in other courses as well. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, UNIVERSITIES’ EFFICIENCY ANALYSIS: LITERATURE REVIEW OF DEA APPLICATION(Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, Faculty of Economics - Skopje, Skopje, 2017)The aim of the paper is to give a literature review of the evaluation of the relative efficiency of higher education institutions (HEIs), i.e. universities, by using the non-parametric approach Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). By using Google Search, 30 studies published in the period 1989-2017 have been found. In this paper, 10 studies are analyzed. Through the analysis, it was found that universities in one country are considered in nine studies, while universities in seven European countries are considered in one study; the smallest sample of universities is 14, and the largest is 259; in most of the studies, DEA models are defined with a different input-output mix; output orientation and CRS assumption is most often specified for the DEA models; and in some studies, besides DEA, fuzzy DEA, bootstrapping procedures and regression analysis are used. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Croatian Universities Under the Microscope: Who Leads, Who Lags, and Why?(EURO, 2024-07) ;Fotova Cikovic, Katerina ;Kecek, DamiraIn an era propelled by knowledge, our study pioneers a cutting-edge evaluation of teaching and research efficiency in Croatian universities, employing a sophisticated blend of AHP, DEA, and regression analysis. Our extensive literature review from the Scopus database, spanning scholarly discourse from inception to 2023, unveiled crucial focuses: teaching and research efficiency, and their convergence. Distilling in sights, we constructed a refined framework for inputs and outputs, utilizing AHP, and engaging diverse respondents—Ministry of Edu cation, university rectors, and higher education policy advisors—in a structured comparison. They assigned relative importance to input and output hierarchies for teaching and research efficiency. The highest-ranked factors, determined by AHP, shaped the DEA analysis, revealing the efficiency frontier and enabling targeted improvement strategies for universities based on quantified efficiency scores. In parallel, our study delves into the assessment of managerial ability within universities, a pivotal yet often overlooked aspect. Adopting methodologies proposed by Demerjian and Lev (2021) and Banker and Park (2021), we measure the efficacy of managerial decision-making in steering institutions toward relative teaching and research efficiency. By identifying determinants of managerial ability, our analysis contributes insights into the leadership dynamics shaping the overall efficiency of Croatian universities. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, How to Choose Your Next Top Salesperson: Multiple-Criteria Approach(IRENET, Society for Advancing Innovation and Research in Economy, 2017); Iliev, FilipBackground: Choosing the most suitable candidate for the position of salesperson is indeed a complex task for managers because several criteria important for the position should be taken into consideration. Such a choice should be considered as a multiple-criteria problem, which can be solved by using the AHP method. Objectives: The main goal is to investigate which criteria are the most important for the managers in the process of selecting a candidate for the position of salesperson, and on that basis to develop an AHP model for ranking of applicant candidates for this position. Methods/Approach: A questionnaire was created, which was sent to 100 sales managers in companies of different industries in Macedonia, in order to grade the importance of the given criteria. Out of the criteria graded, nine that have the highest average grade of importance comprise one of the levels of the AHP model. Results: An average grade of importance for the criteria for choosing a candidate for the position of salesperson is gained, and an AHP model is developed. Conclusions: The developed AHP model is illustrated through a hypothetical example, and its solution serves as a recommendation for who is the best candidate. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
