Item type:Publication, Mobile virtual blackboard(2007) ;Trajkovik, Vladimir ;Gligorovska, SlaganaDavcev, DancoDistance Education System (DES) is commonly used to increase effectiveness of educational process. Mobile devices imply additional changes in the way students interact as a society. Mobile learning (mLearning) offers solutions that address the shortcomings of the traditional classroom. The mobile virtual blackboard is elaborated in this paper. It is a mobile communication service integrated within our existing DES. It serves for consultations purposes and it is especially suitable for acquiring small and exact pieces of knowledge that can be immediately used. In that way, it creates an ideal environment for collaborative learning. The feasibility of using mobile virtual blackboard within educational process was performed with the survey done with the students at the last year of undergraduate studies. We found that functions of the mobile virtual blackboard were effective in cooperative learning. The feedback from the students proved that the virtual blackboard system was viable for use within any project based curriculum. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

The project will establish video conferencing infrastructure as a support of the educational process in higher education in R. Macedonia. It will introduce the usage of novel ICT technologies in engineering education, making the studies more attractive for the students. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Spherical Mapping: A Powerful Tool for 3D Object Matching(2007-03-25) ;Mustafa, Blerim ;Davcev, Danco ;Trajkovik, VladimirMatching 3D objects by their similarity is a fundamental problem in computer vision, multimedia databases, molecular biology, computer graphics and a variety of other fields. A challenging aspect of this problem is to find a suitable shape signature/descriptor that can be constructed and compared quickly, while still discriminating between similar and dissimilar shapes. We find that the major problems in comparing 3D mesh objects lie in the non-uniform vertex sampling and level of detail distribution, in the non-uniform polygon topology and in mesh-representation anomalies, so the primary motivation behind the work presented in this paper is the introduction of mesh-parameterization which brings meshes into a form having uniform vertex sampling, uniform polygon topology and filtered anomalies, by spherically mapping the mesh surface. Further, we present two approaches in inferring shape-descriptors from the spherically mapped objects and the results from the conducted experiments. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, PERFORMANCE COMPARISON OF MULTICORE PROCESSORS USING VARIOUS SOFTWARE PLATFORMS(2007-09); ; Grnarov, AksentiIn the last two years, with appearance of multicore processors, the need of parallel programming has become essential. Programmers using multicore processors are forced to deliver the best performance. But in their effort they must face the selection of the programming model. We have examined the performance on multicore processors for most popular languages and models of parallel programming. For analysis we chose the C++, C# and Java programming languages and MPI and OpenMP programming models. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Improving HDL Higher Level Logical Analysis Using Boolean Function Feature(2006-11); ;Dimitrovski, AndrejIncreased designers' interest in digital system design using hardware description languages has resulted in a huge data set of open source, available on the Web. Difficulties in discovering specific component introduce the need of automation in the process of search and reuse of already existing components. Despite the interface, a very important part required for a complete automation is the software analysis of the components' inner architecture. Applying the Semantic Web methodologies and using our existing hardware description ontology, we propose extension that will enable a semantic annotation of the inner architecture and will significantly improve the tools for automatic search and system composition of existing components. The ontology is published and can be used as a model for a standardized annotation, in order to increase the availability of the existing components and to provide easier reuse in novel designs. The concept is also applicable inside a company, to accelerate the retrieval through the local repositories of components. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, HETEROGENEOUS EPIDEMIOLOGIC INFLUENCE SPREADING MODELS IN COMPLEX NETWORKS(2009-09); ; Kocarev, LjupchoMany of the systems around us are connected in networks with complex patterns forming a complex networks. The individuals of these networks interact among each other tending to impose theirs own state to the surrounding individuals. Such tendencies cause dynamic processes in complex networks defined as influence spreading. There is a big diversity of such processes, and their research gives important results for predicting the speed and rate of spreading of many processes like natural viruses, computer viruses, social processes etc. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, System on Chip Design: New Harmonized Master Studies Curriculum in Macedonia and Serbia(2009) ;Petković, Predrag; ;Grnarov, AksentiLitovski, VanchoThe continuous progress of semiconductor technology has made it possible to implement complex systems on a single chip, which has led to new challenges in design methodologies. Driven by these technological forces, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies (FEIT) – Skopje and Faculty of Electronic Engineering, University of Niš, Serbia with support from TEMPUS JEP_41107_2006 Project have developed an interdisciplinary Master of Science Programme on System-on-Chip design. The programme aims to provide students with competence and skills for designing, analyzing and verifying embedded systems. In this paper, we describe the process of developing the curriculum and the study programme plans. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Enhancing Performance of Web Services in Mobile Applications by SOAP Compression(2008-11) ;Ivanovski, Ivan; since being proposed in May 2000, the SOAP Internet protocol has by now revolutionized application development by connecting graphic user interface desktop applications to powerful Internet servers using the standards of the internet: HTTP and XML. However the fact that it uses a text-based XML encoding unlike the traditional binary protocols, results in higher bandwidth consumption, bigger storage requirement and increased processing overhead. When using mobile devices, one additional question about the battery performance raises. This paper presents the results of implementing efficient compression and its positive impact to the overall performance of the mobile devices that use wireless communication with web services, in terms of significantly reduced bandwidth, quite improved response time, and extended battery life of the mobile devices. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Performances of clustered ad hoc networks on 3D terrains(ICST (Institute for Computer Sciences, Social-Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering), 2009-03-02); ; Vuckovik, MarijaPropagation prediction algorithms which use terrain information are typically used for the design of modern wireless systems. Therefore, it is essential that when analyzing the performances of ad hoc networks we observe the network in a natural 3D terrain and we use an appropriate propagation model. In this paper we explain our extension of the NS-2 simulator using Digital Elevation Model data and terrain aware propagation model. Because of the natural emergence of clustering in the network of users, we also study the relationship between the clustering in the ad hoc networks and different terrain profiles. The simulations show that, when the network clusters are accompanied with related terrain contours, the observed network performances demonstrate measurable enhancement. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Analysis of small world phenomena and group mobility in ad hoc networks(Springer Netherlands, 2007); ; Grnarov, AksentiThe main application of wireless mobile ad hoc networks is to offer services for situations wherein groups of people come together and share information. The groups of people that use the ad hoc network form some kind of social network. In this paper an analysis of the performances of mobile ad hoc networks is performed when taking into consideration its social characteristics through the small world phenomena of the application layer and usage of group-based mobility. The simulations show that the social interconnection between the network users has an extreme influence on the network performances. The results bring forth a different view on the real life deployment of ad hoc networks when compared to the poor performances of the purely randomized scenarios.
