The Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering (FCSE) within UKIM is the largest and most prestigious faculty in the field of computer science and technologies in Macedonia, and among the largest
faculties in that field in the region.
The FCSE teaching staff consists of 50 professors and 30 associates. These include many “best in field” personnel, such as the most referenced scientists in Macedonia and the most influential professors in the ICT industry in the Republic of Macedonia.

Item type:Publication, Minimization of the blocking time of the unreliable Geo/G_D/1 queueing system(Odjel za matematiku, Sveučilište JJ Strossmayera u Osijeku, 1999-06-20); Kolev, NikolaiIn this paper we study the blocking time of an unreliable single-server queueing system Geo/GD/1. The service can be interrupted upon explicit or implicit breakdowns. For the successful finish of the service we use a special service discipline dividing the pure service time X (assumed to be a random variable with known distribution) in subintervals with deterministically selected time-points 0 = t0 < t1 < ... < tk < tk+1; tk < X ≤ tk+1, and making a copy at the end of each subinterval (if no breakdowns occur during it) we derive the probability generating function of the blocking time of the server by a customer. As an application, we consider an unreliable system Geo/D/1 and the results is that the expected blocking time is minimized when the timepoints t0, t1,... are equidistant. We determine the optimal number of copies and the length of the corresponding interval between two consecutive copies. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Textto-Speech Conversion for Macedonian as Part of a System for Support of Humans with Damaged Sight(1996) ;Josifovski, Ljubomir; Djordjevikj, DejanA subsystem for text-to-speech (TTS) conversion for Macedonian language as a part of a system for support of humans with damaged sight will be presented in this paper. The whole system includes recognition of printed Cyrillic text, archiving, TTS conversion and printing on a Braille printer. A subsystem for real-time TTS conversion from unrestricted text is under development. The whole architecture of the subsystem and some of its major modules will be presented here. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Speech synthesizer based on time domain syllable concatenation(1997-10-27) ;Josifovski, Ljubomir; Gjorgjevikj, DejanIn [2] we have presented a subsystem for text-to-speech (TTS) conversion for macedonian language as a part of a system for support of humans with damaged eyesight [1]. In this paper we present the speech synthesizer which is part of the TTS conversion subsystem. It's based on timedomain syllable concatenation. A novel module for duration and fundamental frequency (F0) modification is introduced and discussed. We believe that the architecture presented is well suited to the nature of macedonian language, and fits well with prerequisites for real-time operation on a standard, of-the-shelf hardware. The prototype containing inventory of 1275 syllables and implementing modules for duration and F0 modification was built and tested. The preliminary tests concerning the eligibility of the synthesized speech are most encouraging. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Mathematical model for the available phosphorus, phytoplankton and zooplankton in the Lake Ohrid(WIT Press, 1998-10-14); ;Koneski, Z; Naumoski, TIn the paper by Mitreski et al.' a dynamic biogeochemical model has been proposed, which tends to describe some of the processes that contribute to the eutrophication of Lake Ohrid. By balancing the complexity between the scope of the model and the available data, we selected state variables and formulated mathematical expressions. With three differential equations, we took into account the change of available phosphorus, as well as time dependent behaviour of phytoplankton and zooplankton concentrations in the lake. By considering both model output and lake-wide observations, the suitability of the model was analysed. The main goal of this paper is to give experimental validation of the proposed mathematical model. Four groups of phytoplankton and seven zooplankton types were considered in the analysis. The simulated results from the model are validated with the measured values from the lake. We concluded that the model shows the general trends and considers the probabilistic nature of the lake ecosystem. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, WIT Transactions on Ecology and the Environment(WIT Press, 1997-05-29); ; ;Jordanoski, MNaumoski, TIn this paper we will present our scheme for planning the Pollution Monitoring System (PMS) for the Lake Ohrid. Lake Ohrid is included on the UNESCO World Heritage List, because of it's age and unique life. Our objective is to establish an integrated monitoring system which will allow an assessment and future control of the water quality. The structure of the PMS will include three levels. After presenting the plan of water quality PMS, selection and position of measurement points, we will give the first experience in using this system.
