    The TEMPUS JEP 41107 grant was awarded to four Universities. Two of them from the former Yugoslavia (Serbia, University of Niš, Faculty of Electronic Engineering, and Macedonia, Ss. Cyril and Methodius, University of Skopje, Faculty for electronic engineering and computer sciences), and two from the European Union (Spain, Universidad Politecnica de Madrid, and Great Britain, University of Southampton). The main target of the project was the development and implementation (including accreditation) of a new curriculum: “System on chip design”. In this paper we will review the activities and the achievements of this project as it comes to an end. Experiences related to implementation and mutual collaboration will be outlined briefly, too.

    In recent years, collaborative tagging is one of the main ingredient in many sites that provide the user a way to tag bookmarks, photographs and other content. One type of these kind of systems are the wellYknown social bookmarking sites. Social bookmarking has shown great potential to gather a significant metadata for the web pages it is referring to. The user generated metadata describes the content of the usersГ bookmarks, despite having its disadvantages, lately is seen as a Igoldmine". The use of all this advantages that the social bookmarking uses, results in better social navigation. Application of Semantic web in this area can add a completely new dimension to these applications. In this paper, give an analysis of concepts of social bookmarking and tagging, the most popular social bookmarking systems, including ones that incorporate semantics. We elaborate on their features, advantages and disadvantages. Based on the analysis that we made and our experience in development of application for social semantic bookmarking, we also present the benefits and problems that may arise from the usage of the Semantic web technologies in the field of social bookmarking.

    Within the Tempus SoCD project, we conducted several academic staff and students mobility. In this paper, we present our experiences, benefits and problems that we have with mobility and its impact on Bologna process. We provide a comparison of learning opportunities in European countries in contrast to Macedonia as a partner country. We give mainly the students' perspective of mobility and their experience how mobility influenced their knowledge. This tempus project had a great impact on enhancing and synchronizing SoCD master program with its European partner universities through the study programs' improvement and especially with the establishment of new advanced SoCD laboratory.

    Semantic Web Business Models
    (Institute of Informatics, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, Macedonia, 2011)

    ;
    With the emergence of the Semantic Web, that represents an extension of the existing WWW, many opportunities and different ways to use the Internet were created. From the idea to date has spent quite a while and there’s still no appropriate business model that will attract the attention of companies to begin more intensive use of Semantic Web. The semantic web information is a machine understandable format, so the semantic agent who is used by the customer gives pure and relevant information, without any other supporting information that basically is necessary for the classic business model. The need of appropriate business model is more than necessary at a moment when many opportunities for business are open and new rules of operation of e-commerce are introduced. This paper explores new opportunities and exploits the benefits of using semantic web technologies to develop improved and better business models. New business models, on the other hand, will increase business success and profit and will allow faster and easier accomplishment of the final goals. This will empower business capabilities, directly and indirectly, and will lead to positive changes in e-commerce: transparency will increase to satisfactory level, small and medium enterprises will have greater chance for success, access to the consumers will be more direct and increased and they have maximum chance to be found if the offered product fits the needs of customer etc. This paper also presents to entrepreneurs and accomplished business executives new features and functionalities of applications that use semantic web.

    Social Bookmarking Over Nosql. We Need Speed

    Becoming the backbone of some of the web’s biggest social networks, and few others systems holding a large amount of data, the NoSql concept stands its ground as the only alternative to storing data beside the SQL approach. Big web companies like Google, Amazon and Facebook developed non-relational databases that sacrifice consistency for availability, scalability and performance. We have developed a social bookmarking service based on NoSql concept, looking for performance, since expecting a large amount of data in our hands. A system providing its users with an easy way to organize, tag and share web content of interest. Additionally, generating recommendations and groups of similar web content, based on interests shown while using the bookmarking service. In this paper we concentrate on building a solid ground for performance comparison of two web applications, providing the same social bookmarking service, using a different concept to store its data. The expectations are that the NoSql based service will provide us with better performance that the SQL supported service. We concentrate on the potential performance benefit, as well as the possibility to gain additional advantage by being able to scale our data storage on multiple servers.

    Matrix multiplication algorithms are very common and widely used for computation in almost any field. There are many implementations for matrix multiplication on different platforms and programming models. GPU devices in the recent years have become powerful computational units that have entered the segment of high performance computing. In this paper we are analysing two approaches for the matrix multiplication algorithm with and without border conditions for parallel GPU execution.

    In this paper we present the utilization of cloud computing environment for fast network simulation of wireless ad hoc networks in 3D terrains. Considering 3D terrains involves larger amounts of data, thus the network simulation requires more compute intensive calculations. In this paper we evaluate the usage of cloud computing environment for network terrain aware simulation in order to optimally utilize the available hardware resources. Our experimental results show that there in not a significant decrease of performance when migration to a private cloud environment.

    The global warming and the frequent forest fires are the greatest evils, that is happening to the world today. They are key motivation factor in development of systems for an early prevention and detection of forest fires. In this paper, we review the general architecture of a forest fire system, present several existing systems and pilot-projects, describe their specific architectures and emphasize the main mutual similarities and differences. At the and we address the open issues and improvement opportunities, that appear with the mobile technologies and smart phones.

    The concept of Open Data, which represents the idea that public data should be published in a machine-readable format, starts to take a significant role in modern society. Public data from various fields are being transformed in open data formats and published on systems which allow easier consumption from software agents and applications, as well as the users behind them. On the other hand, people in the business world are trying for a few decades now to establishing standards for financial accounting that govern the preparation of financial reports. Financial reporting has crucial significance for companies today, since it is a record of their work which is presented to their stakeholders and represents a starting point for future business decisions and strategies. In this paper, we use data from the Macedonian Stock Exchange and data from different web sites of Macedonian companies in order to create datasets of Open Financial Data relevant for our country, thus increasing the transparency and improving the data accessibility. We describe the process of transforming the data into 4 star Open Data, and present use-case scenarios which use data from our generated datasets and from the World Bank. The datasets are published and accessible via a SPARQL endpoint, and we demonstrate how a software application can make use of them.
