Differentials of Fertility in the Republic of Macedonia (empirical research)
    (New Balkan Politics, 2001)
At the time of the last Census (1994) in the Republic of Macedonia, fertility had reached the level of 2.2 births per woman and an annual rate of population increase 1.01%. After that, TFR had been declining, and showed 1.9 children per woman in 1998. This number indicates Macedonian position in the group of countries where fertility is below the level of replacement. The reasons for such a situation are complex - cultural, demographic, economic and health-related factors. At the same time it is not possible to ignore current transitional position of the Republic of Macedonia: transit to the market economy and pluralistic political system. The reasons have not been completely clarified yet, but we can mention several reasons for the decreasing number of live births. We could point out the ageing of the fertile contingent, the insufficient financial security, the small homes etc. Essential factors are the rate of unemployment of women and their position in the family and society. At the same time, the subsequent decline in the birth rate has been also due to diminishment in the effectiveness of the state's demographic pro-natalistic policy in the country. The purpose of this survey is to state general fertility in the Republic of Macedonia using measures for current fertility and cumulative fertility and also to emphasize some differentials of fertility.

Bioethical Aspects of the Question of “Good” Death (Euthanasia) in Contemporary World
(Cambridge Scholars Publishing, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, 2014)
Every human being has the right to live and it is a fundamental human right - the right of life. But in today's modern society, the question of right of dignity in dying and death and the right to a painless death, is also inevitable. In this context, there are attempts of legal regulation of euthanasia! However, if painless death in the same time means also a murder, we should rejected it. Moreover, because we have another possible and even more an ethical alternative - palliative medicine, or care, because it protects human dignity, which the use of euthanasia negates it! Thus, palliative medicine that promotes the culture of life at its end and connects the highest quality medical advances and the compassionate care for patients and their families with emotional and spiritual support - significantly reduces the demand for euthanasia, and makes it redundant. This as a possibility, but what is actually the practice and the situation in contemporary life pervaded with the maxim "Carpe diem!"? How modern man which accepts that life is worth living only under the aspect of quality of life as defined by criteria of living standards, benefits, happiness, mobility, painlessness, absence of suffering …, understands euthanasia? Hence, the text deals with the different definition of euthanasia and palliative care through the prism of bioethics and its key issues - human dignity.

Institutional assessment of the responsiveness of service providers to violence against children in Macedonia
(Sveučilište Josipa Jurja Strossmayera u Osijeku, Filozofski Fakultet, 2010)
This report presents the findings of an institutional assessment of the responsiveness of the child protection system in the Republic of Macedonia to violence against children. The study specifically looked for formal mechanisms that govern the referral of cases of violence to the appropriate institutions, as well as those that promote cooperation and coordination among component actors in the child protection system. The research goals were to collect data from various service providers in the child protection system on the number of cases of violence recorded or documented in a 12-month period, types of action taken in recorded cases of violence (e.g., the number of cases reported to police, the number referred to social services), coordination mechanisms among institutions involved in recorded cases of violence as well as mechanisms which monitor, supervise and evaluate institutions and professionals that work with victims of violence. Select samples illustrate how incidents of violence against children come to notice in the child protection system and how the system responds. Overall, the research sample covered interviewees from 277 institutions, including social work centers, health centers, hospitals, pre-schools, schools, police stations, residential institutions, detention and correctional facilities, as well as reception and transit centers for children in conflict with the law. In general, from the survey results, it can be concluded that there are no legally or officially regulated criteria in Macedonia for recording, referring and treating cases of violence against children. In addition, there are no mechanisms for cooperation among institutions dealing with child victims of violence, and no mechanisms for monitoring and evaluating the quality of services provide to affected children and their families.
