Abstract: The paper aims to examine the effects of the process of modernization of the European Union trademark system as a result of introducing the EU trademark reform package. It analyses the key changes of the European Union's trademark system, with particular emphasis on the most important components of the two legislative reform packages, whose implementation is ongoing from 2016. The effects of the trademark reform package are presented in a quantitative analysis of applications, complaints and appeals reviewed by the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) in the period 2015- 2019.
