Abstract: Basic condition when dimensioning the surface water drainage system on roads is to accept storm water from asphalt, paved surfaces, parks, etc. and with appropriate facilities and timely transfer to the pipe collector system. The purpose of this paper is to provide a recommendation for the proper dimensioning of facilities for receiving stormwater – inlet gutters, also a recommendation will be made for the selection of criteria for determining the hydraulic efficiency of inlet gutters and determining the distance between them in terms of full acceptance of stormwater. The paper uses the general equation of the Rational method for determining the amount of rain fall and by known methods of hydraulics by way of interactions the equations for determining the capacity of the inlet gutter are given and the equations to determine their optimal distance.
