In the context of recent research in the area of comparative literature, I also attempt to examine whether the themes of interest and approaches of other disciplines can contribute to the understanding of literary works. Specifically, the focalization of the story through the eyes of children is explored in “Chikamauga” by Bierce and „Баба-лебарка“ (The Cockroach Woman) by Urošević. Distortion of time in “An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge” by Bierce and „Ракописот од Китаб-Ан“ (The Manuscript from Kitab-An) by Urošević is presented in the context of recent explorations of the phenomenon of time in astronomy. The conclusions suggest that even when there is no direct influence of one author on another, still the comparative approach can reveal important parallels between literary works created in different cultural contexts. | URI: | http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12188/17769 |
