Abstract

This article gives a comprehensive overview and analysis of the contemporary debate in the Theory of European Integration. It particularly centers on the aspects of middle-range theories dealing with particular aspects of the integration process. The main theoretical approaches discussed are the Multi-level Governance theory and the impact of enlargement, as well as New Institutionalism with the accent on rational choice, institutional and sociological institutionalism.
