Abstract: The linear polarization degree of Balmer alpha radiation resulting from Hþ þ Hð1sÞ collisions in a hot, dense weakly coupled plasma is studied in the energy range 1–140keV=u by adopting the Debye-H€uckel potential to represent the screened interaction between charged plasma particles. Due to the energy splitting of nl hydrogen states in the short range Debye-Huckel potential, the Balmer alpha radiation contains three components corresponding to 3s-2p, 3p-2s, and 3d-2p transi- tions, of which only the last two can be linearly polarized. For calculation of 3lm excitation and electron capture cross sections, the two-center expansion atomic orbital close coupling method is used for a number of Debye screening lengths. The effects of plasma screening on the 3lm cross sections are manifested in significant changes of their magnitudes and energy behavior with respect to the ones in the unscreened case, producing significant changes in the polarization degree of Balmer 3p-2s and 3d-2p lines.
Description: The data files attached to this paper follows the information presented on selected panels from published figures. Some of them may contains additional data, regarding state energies and polarization, which were not presented in the published version of the paper due to page limitations. All energies are in units of keV/u and sections in units of 10^{-16} cm^2 unless explicitly noted otherwise. Each data file is an ASCI text file with several lines of comments at their beginning with short explanation for columns, units, missing or otherwise unacceptable data, etc. Due to various restrictions not all energy points are available - hence the slots with missing data. The name of the file starts with a number, and short explanation of its content for an easy orientation. In the following we list them for convenience of the user The radial electron densities (Fig 1) and polarization values (Fig 8, 9 and 10) are calculated from these data. All calculations were performed on HPC at FINKI, Skopje. The authors gratefully acknowledge the support of people in charge of smooth running of the cluster and prof. B. Jakimovski, PhD in particular for helpful advise on many occasions. For further details regarding computations and data itself: dragan.jakimovski@gmail.com
