This paper presents a methodology for route selecting in the planning and designing of railway alignment based on the Multi Criterion Decision Process. The proposed methodology provides usage of Multi-Criteria Analysis, examines the advantages and disadvantages of the considered methods, and explains how their common applications relate to their relative strengths and weaknesses. Final result of the Multi-Criteria Analysis is selection of the most suitable route in accordance with the adopted criterion and existing constraints. The developed methodology is based on three different methods for Multi-Criteria Analysis, notably Weighted Sum Model WSM, AHP method (Analytic Hierarchy Process) and VIKOR method. Evaluation is performed for railway alignment of two alternatives on the Corridor 10, on the section from station Dracevo (Skopje) and station Veles. The results confirm pertinence and usefulness of Multi Criteria Analysis.en_US
